When I decided I wanted the boys to participate in swim team this summer, only one of them showed an interest - Luke1. Considering the fact that he is the child that never stops moving, I realized that he was the very best candidate. After all, what better way for him to spend 6 weeks in the summer than working all of his energy off in the pool. So after treking through the cold rain and standing out in the cold for 20 minutes and laying down $140, he's signed up. Everyone was excited about Luke1 becoming a member of the Torpedos! There are 4 practices and one swim meet per week.
Then last night we received a call from Luke1's baseball coach with the great news that he was asked to try out for the Allstar Team this summer. What a great opportunity for our family's best athlete! So this means, $160, two practices and one game per week. Plus the possibility (very, very slim) of missing Luke1 missing our planned summer vacation by advancing to the World tournament in July. But who could deny him that opportunity. He was so excited about it.
For so many years I said that in order for the boys to play a sport or do an activity, they would all have to do the same thing. I wasn't considering the fact that each of them is unique. DV is suited to Boy Scouts where he can hang out with his buddies, go camping and participate in all sorts of outdoor activities. Han is the musician in the family who is about to complete book 1 of his piano school and advance to book 2. And Luke 1 is the little athlete who excells in every sport he tries. I have to realize that God gave each of them special talents to pursue and enjoy. And since Dad is now working out of the house, it makes it easier for us to participate in more. My final hope on this subject is that all this activity will help Luke1 to finally stop sucking his thumb. Maybe he'll be too busy!!
