After essentially working two full time jobs for about 3 months Lee has finally gotten a few days of work-related travel and fun. OK, Las Vegas is not my or his first choice of destinations, but it the location of the 2008 American Fence Convention and the company is picking up the ticket. Not to mention the fact that he gets to spend some time with two of his partners and friends from work.
The boys and I have received several phone calls from Lee, including one from the line at the baggage carosel and we have even received a couple of e-mail photos of the hotel room. He is staying at the Luxor Hotel which contains a good deal of shopping, restaurants, a pool, and casino. It also contains a light which is the brightest on earth and can be seen in space. (I'm just glad I don't live anywhere near this thing!)
So, while I'm not thrilled that he is spending a few days in "Sin City", I am glad he has a few days off. And trust me, he would rather spend a couple days talking about business than lounging on the beach., and I am glad he has this opportunity. He'll probably gamble a little, but I have no worry that he'll gamble the mortgage payment or the kids college fund.
I'm also glad for the educational opportunity this has given us. We were able to track his flight across the country and hopefully we'll get a good report and photos from Hoover Dam where is the planned destination for tomorrow.
After talking with Lee today I have reinforced my belief that I have absolutely NO desire to visit Las Vegas. He tells me that he has only spent about 10 minutes outside out of about 36 hours in the city. It is just not necessary to go outside because everything is connected and there is sooo much inside. I don't understand why anyone would actually spend their own money to visit something like that. I prefer to visit God-made natural sites and actual real historic sites. A man-made fake world is just not my cup of tea. And no offense to those who long for a Disney vacation, but I really didn't even like Disney World!
