Yesterday was my 45th birthday, and I decided to spend the day going to see my favorite sports team play. The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets faced at Turner Field in Atlanta. Lucky for me the Braves came away with the victory, 7-1!
The decision to go to the game was made on a whim Saturday evening when I realized that the weather would be perfect for the 6 p.m. game. We have been experiencing some very unseasonably cool weather here in Georgia for the past few days, and I decided to take advantage of it by spending the day outside with the family. Here are some shots taken in the stands.
Jeff Francouer, one of our favorite Braves, was traded to the Mets just last week.
Three of Atlanta's most famous companies are representated at the stadium - Coca Cola, Chick-fil-A and Delta Airlines. For some reason I didn't get any good shots of any Braves players at the game, but I did photograph some cute guys, one of whom is sticking out his tongue.
The man behind us was from South Africa, and he managed to be hit in the stomach by the only foul ball to come our way. If Andrew had stood up at the right time, he might have been hit in the head by the ball. The man was ok, and he enjoyed holding the ball up for all to see. The lady with him, probably his wife, volunteered to take a picture of Lee and me, and Andrew joined in.
Every Sunday they let kids run the bases and they give out certificates and t-shirts to all the participants.
On Friday, Pitcher Greg Maddox was inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame, and his number 31 was retired and placed on display in the stadium along with Hank Aaron, Dale Murphy and other team superstars. So of course, we had to get a picture of that on the way out.
Oh, and Yunel Escobar hit a homerun and was player of the game. While waiting in line to get on the field, se managed to see him getting into his car and driving away.
All in all I can say that it was a fabulous birthday! God knew what he was doing when he game me four boys, cause I'm definitely not a girly, girl, but more of a sport-loving mama!
Happy Birthday! For some reason my arm automatically started doing a tomohawk chop while I was reading this;o).
