Good thing I'm not supersitious about New Year's, because otherwise I might have had trouble sleeping last night. After all, what do you think it means when you are standing on the yard next to your new house and look up and see hundreds of Turkey Vultures circling overhead. Doesn't seem like a good sign to me.
Fortunately we were enthralled by these interesting creatures because we have never seem them so close-up and in such great numbers. It was a fascinating sight!
I said hundreds because the flow of them seemed to go on forever! But on second thought I actually think it was just a huge circle moving very slowly to the north. Perhaps we just kept seeing the same ones over and over. If that were the case then I reduce my estimate to 30 to 50.
After we were mesmerized for about 15 minutes by the vultures, our friend looked down the street and said something to the effect of - can't those people afford a car? I keep seeing them ride those horses down the street.
Sure enough, we looked out and saw the horse riders who were not our next door neighbors who are also horse riders.
