A Preview of Things to Come
We've been blessed by lots of rain lately and our little spring/creek is overflowing. This makes for a fun time for 5 boys and not so much fun for a little turtle.
This little guy shows scars from previous traumas -- animal bites no doubt (see the missing part of his shell) He or she didn't seem afraid of coming out of his shell in the hands of some rambunctious boys.
The boys didn't mind treking the entire length of the spring/creek in the chilly water.
With water up to their knees, it's hard to believe this spot was dry just last week. It's a dry spring which we're hoping to dam up to make a nice little duck (and turtle) habitat.

i have to admit - i am *very* envious for my kids. That is "kid heaven"!!
All i want is for us to win the lottery so we can have a bit of land! The rest we can give to charity...is that *soooo* much to ask for?? LOL!

Viki, have the boys take a picture of the top of each turtle's shell so you can identify them later. We have 'named' all the turtles at our place and the kids love recognizing Granpa, Ridgeback, Midnight etc.

We found a turtle in our backyard the very first year we were here, and have never seen one since. Looks like yours guys are going to have some great nature walks to look forward to.
